Join the Mindful Rebels every Tuesday from 8 to 9 am at BlackRock’s new offices at 50 Hudson Yards. We’ll be welcoming them to their new home and inviting them to tell the truth and take action to avert the climate emergency. Despite their greenwashing, BlackRock bears more responsibility for the climate emergency than any other asset manager.
At their new home we will be sending a message to them, their corporate neighbors and the public, through meditation (seated and/or walking; outdoors and/or indoors), and flyering. Our form of non-violent direct action is a silent and powerful force that confounds and intrigues. We'll gather at the park outside the 34th Street Hudson Yards Subway Station and from there we’ll head to BlackRock. If you arrive after we've moved on, you will find us either in the lobby or outside the building.
After our actions, we gather and bond over coffee as we plan further actions to bring good trouble to the doorsteps of other climate criminals. We urge you to join us for that, too (especially on 3/21… see some of the other XR event listings for details of the day’s actions).
A disruptive, non-violent presence, the Mindful Rebels call on BlackRock to stop greenwashing and address the climate emergency by halting investment in fossil fuel infrastructure; investing in renewable energy; and adopting policies that prioritize the rights of indigenous communities worldwide.
