Community WG facilitates the longevity and effectiveness of our movement by growing the membership, forming alliances, integrating and onboarding new members and building a culture is a of resilience, mutual care, widespread participation and connection within the movement.

  • Recruitment, Onboarding, Integration, and Retention of members new and ongoing

    - Rebel Ringers- team of 1:1 rebel contact through phone calls, texts and emails for turnout to events/actions.
    - Field Rebels-on the street team  Recruiting for XRNYC by flyering, tabling, talking to people at XR events and actions and non XR opportunities.
    - Onboarding and Integration team-facilitate the integration of new members into the movement and collaborate with working group coordinators to identify the roles that need to be filled

  • Education, Programming, Event Planning and Resource Development

  • Anti-Racism/Anti-Oppression -Establish trainings, systems of feedback and resources to support the dismantling of oppressive structures and dynamics within the movement and advance the 4th Demand.

  • Conflict Resilience- Providing space and support for Rebels to learn and grow by processing conflict regeneratively, through dialogue and connection, using the skills and processes laid out in the XRNYC Conflict Resilience Policy.

  • Self-Organizing Systems (SOS) (Sociocracy)- Establish and support clear, functional, and transparent self-organization throughout XR NYC, which inspires, equips, and supports people to work effectively together in a decentralized way, while also maintaining healthy interpersonal relationships and accountable use of power.

  • Allies-Develop relationships and alliances with existing climate change and social justice movements, churches, schools, community centers, and unions

  • Action Support subcircle (with Actions) connects with Actions and Art Working Group (at least one Regen Advocate or Community member will be a member of this circle)- Establish and give guidance to the processes that support the physical and emotional well-being of XR NYC activists and participants participating in all phases and of direct actions and activities

It's not enough to have urgent demands, bold ideas, passionate activists, audacious actions, and inexhaustible energy.  We also need reliable financial resources, arresting and persuasive media materials, and secure digital infrastructure.  That's what Operations provides.  We are responsible for:

  • Maintaining accurate and transparent financial records

  • Managing fundraising

  • Creating social media and messaging content

  • Developing and maintaining media relations to report on our actions and messaging

  • Supporting technology for communications, project management, and data storage

  • Promoting best practices for digital security
