Traditionally, climate activists have disrupted the bad guys, people who are doing bad things like building pipelines or financing them, in order to force them to mend their ways. It feels the right thing to do.
Recently, though, Extinction Rebellion NYC (and groups we admire) have taken on a counter-intuitive strategy: we have started disrupting what we love, like art, tennis tournaments, and counterculture festivals. We have found these surprisingly more effective, so we want to do more of them, and organize them in very public ways. We are inviting you to a discussion of this strategy, and disruptive actions that follow.
