Calling all Activists! Want to learn the history of resistance music as a soundtrack for present day activism? This event is for you!
Musician, activist and educators, Daniel Blake and Jason Yeager, will lead this teach-in, exploring the histories of resistance music, focusing on one from the 1930s labor movement in the US and another one from the 1960s-70s Nueva Canción (“New Song”) movement in South America. Afterward, they will lead the group in learning a few examples of protest music from the recent past.
We will then join Seattle-based composer, musician and activist, Tae Phoenix, who will share her experience of how resistance music can be brought to the front lines of present day actions.
Vive la résistance!
