Intended for experienced working group members as well as new rebels, this training offers the most comprehensive view yet offered in NYC of Extinction Rebellion’s structure, decision-making practices and facilitation toolkit. It will be interactive and full of chances to try stuff!

9:30am: Arrival time
10:00am -12:30pm: Self Organizing Systems with Jesse Marshall and other guests:
A) The philosophy of distributed power and equal voice behind XR’s working group structure;
B) Working group mandates and links;
C) The integrative decision-making process and the idea of an objection;
D) Circle roles like coordinator and facilitator, role terms, and how to select for roles.
12:30pm - 1:30pm: Lunch break - On your own or potluck!
1:30pm - 3:30pm (with break in the middle): Fun with Facilitation! With Liz Barry, and other guests In four parts:
A) Learn “meeting hygiene” you can use today in your affinity groups, like timesharing and progressive stack;
B) Experience SOS processes for proposal generation
C) Hear stories about and learn how to facilitate emergent action assemblies in the street;
D) Explore what facilitation in a Citizens Assembly (XR Demand #3) looks like.
4:00pm - 5:00pm: A warm wrap-up to the day with Regenerative Culture Practice <3
Relating person-to-person and at scale: Empathy circles and other ideas you can bring to gatherings and even to actions.
