Beginning Monday, October 7, Extinction Rebellion (XR) NYC will join a global rebellion across cities, countries, and continents to rise up to fight for our lives.
We are here to tell the truth and to demand that our government do the same: The emergency is accelerating, and we must act like it. Already, people in poorer communities are being displaced and dying. Climate justice demands immediate action.
We have likely already overshot the 2015 Paris Agreement goal of 1.5°C warming. Even best-case scenarios now show life-ending projections of 3°C (5.4°F) and above.
Over 50% of all carbon dioxide emissions from the burning of fossil fuels has been produced since the 1990s.
Plant and animal species have crashed because of climate change. The number of growing co-extinctions could lead to a domino effect, threatening all species.

The Global Rebellion begins October 7.
The global Extinction Rebellion will be a peaceful, nonviolent disruption of business as usual. Besides direct action and civil disobedience, it will include festive and non-arrestable events, teach-ins, and creative actions to envision the future we want to see—a world safe for us, our children, and generations to come.

SAVE THE DATE: Plan to take a day or two—or all week—off from work and school. Join us in the streets with your family and friends to demand emergency action to save life on Earth.
BEGIN THE WEEK at 9:30am Monday in Battery Park with the Funeral March. Wear black and other mourning attire if you can, and bring your own placards, flowers, and signs.
JOIN XR NOW: Attend a Heading for Extinction talk. Join a Welcome Call. Attend a three-hour Nonviolent Direct Action (NVDA) training, even if you don’t plan to risk arrest. Many dates for all of these are listed on the Events page. And after that, join a working group to make art, do outreach in your community to grow our numbers, build a regenerative culture, and more.
