Extinction Rebellion NYC x Poor People's Campaign: Music and Activism Virtual Teach-In

The XR music working group is excited to team up with the cultural arts directors Chiron Hibrar and Pauline Pisaro of the Poor People’s Campaign (PPC) . Together we will present a virtual theomusicology teach-in to discuss the PPC’s incredible work "We Rise: A Movement Songbook".

This event will also discuss the PPC's upcoming June 20, 2020 action as well as the intersections between Extinction Rebellion NYC’s 4th Demand and the PPC’s demand to end the ecological devastation where “the poor live on the frontlines of climate change and bear the brunt of costs and impacts of climate volatility”.

It is our hope that during this time of isolation we can develop new relationships between music and activism, and the distinct but intersecting visions of Extinction Rebellion and Poor People's Campaign for the future. The proposed teach-in is intended as a first step toward unifying our voice and our music around a shared intention to build a stronger coalition for the critical work that lies ahead.
