A Twitterstorm is brewing. On April 22, Biden announced the United States will aim to cut carbon emissions by as much as 52% by 2030. This target means global heating will blast pass the 1.5C limit that we need to protect life on earth as we know it. This is unacceptable.
If we exceed 1.5C we condemn billions of the most marginalized people on earth to even more suffering. We can say goodbye to coral reefs. And hello to coastal flooding, forced migration, drought, food shortages, extreme weather and extinction on a scale humanity has never before faced. We’ll be organizing a simultaneous online mobilization to really drive home the point.
Twitter connects political leaders, opinion makers, and regular activists all on one network. If we work together and aim high, we can make sure the right people see and hear this grassroots uprising. We don’t believe the internet will save the world – we believe that people will. Now let’s use this digital bullhorn to make some noise.
