UPROSE’s Climate Justice Lives Here! – a Sunset Park community festival this September 28th, 2024, a Saturday. We are planning this at the end of NYC Climate Week to remind everyone that climate justice comes from frontline communities. This September also marks the 10th anniversary of the People's Climate March, an effort led by the frontline. Our festival will honor that 10th anniversary as our community and allies gather at Brooklyn Army Terminal on the waterfront where we will host a climate justice festival and proclaim that Solutions Are Local.

Just Transition: Join the "Just Transition" circle to discuss how we can transform our economy with frontline communities leading the way. This space focuses on operationalizing generative renewable energy sources that empower local communities and ensure equitable benefits. Learn about the collaboration between diverse stakeholders to create a sustainable economy that leaves no one behind. Learn about the plan to decarbonize Sunset Park and about how faith calls us to climate action.

Fast Fashion: "Are the clothes you are wearing killing you? Making you sick?" Our "Fast Fashion" circle dives into the hidden dangers of fast fashion, from toxicity to environmental degradation. Discover how a lack of information perpetuates harmful practices and explore community-driven, generative solutions that repurpose and reduce consumption. Join us to build local economies that thrive on sharing and sustainability. Remember to bring clothing clothes for the clothing swap!

Wellness: Explore the links between environmental justice, ancestral wisdom, and wellness in our "Wellness" circle. This space emphasizes anti-colonial and ancestral healing practices that nurture our connection to the earth and each other. Learn about holistic approaches to health that counteract the stresses of climate change and promote resilient, thriving communities.
